Turkey: Major fraud in Adana and flooding in Ankara

Several distinct incidents have been reported in Turkey. In Adana, a major fraud case has emerged at a car dealership site in the Seyhan district. A suspect, identified as B. S., allegedly gained the trust of approximately 25 dealers and used post-dated checks to purchase vehicles, totaling 110 million lira in losses. The suspect and an associate, M. C., disappeared before the checks could be cashed. Additionally, in the same region, a family reported being targeted by two consecutive armed attacks on their vehicles over two days.

In Ankara, heavy rainfall and flooding caused significant infrastructure damage in the Keçiören district. On Gülgün Street, a road collapse occurred due to a combination of severe rain and a sewage line burst, exacerbated by ongoing infrastructure work. Approximately 15 to 20 parked vehicles fell into large sinkholes created by the erosion. Local residents have criticized the water authority, ASKİ, for incomplete roadwork that contributed to the severity of the flooding and subsequent road failure.
