Ankara imposes extensive traffic restrictions for NATO summit and ongoing road works

The Ankara Governor’s Office announced a series of security‑driven traffic measures ahead of the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit scheduled for 6‑9 July. Motorbike access is barred on major avenues and around key hotels, the presidential complex, and several central boulevards. Heavy‑tonnage vehicles, including fuel tankers and concrete mixers, are prohibited from entering the city between 5 July 16:00 and 10 July 10:00. Trucks carrying medicines and perishable goods may use alternate routes, while all other vehicles must avoid parking in designated public and private areas during the summit period.

At the same time, Ankara’s road network continues to experience temporary lane closures and one‑way traffic flows due to ongoing construction and maintenance projects. Sections of the Kızılcahamam‑Kahramankazan, Ankara‑Kırıkkale, Turkuaz Köprüsü, Ankara‑Konya, and Ankara‑Bala‑Karakeçili routes are subject to reduced lanes, opposite‑direction platforms, and night‑time work restrictions. Drivers are instructed to follow posted signs and use alternative routes where indicated.
