Ankara launches EGO electric bicycle service in city parks
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new electric bicycle service as part of its Smart Ankara Project to promote sustainable and eco-friendly urban transportation. A total of 408 electric bikes have been introduced to the city, with an initial 100 units deployed at Atatürk Children’s Park and Wildlife Park and Ankapark.
The service aims to provide a convenient alternative for short-distance travel within recreational areas, helping residents and visitors navigate large parks more easily. The project is designed to reduce carbon footprints and alleviate urban traffic congestion. Following the initial rollout, the municipality plans to gradually expand the availability of EGO electric bikes to other parks and recreational zones throughout Ankara.
