Ankara launches health and cultural program for seasonal farm workers

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality partnered with the Şereflikoçhisar District Municipality to introduce a comprehensive health and cultural outreach initiative for seasonal agricultural workers and their families in the capital region. Mobile health units conduct on‑site medical screenings, focusing on dehydration, heat‑stroke, infectious diseases and respiratory issues, while also providing hygiene kits and a mobile shower service.

The program includes safety training on pesticide handling, equipment use and first‑aid, delivered through multilingual workshops. Cultural activities such as a cinema screening on a trailer‑mounted screen and the distribution of toys aim to improve social well‑being. The effort seeks to reduce work‑related accidents, improve early disease detection and foster community solidarity among the often‑overlooked workforce.
