Ankara municipality offers free city tours of historic Ayaş district

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its free "Kent Gezileri" program, inviting residents to explore the capital's cultural, historic and natural assets. The latest tour visited the Ayaş district, where participants saw Seljuk‑era architecture such as a historic bath, the Old Grand Mosque, traditional stone houses, a memorial site and the district’s narrow, tree‑lined streets.

Officials said the tours aim to raise awareness of Ankara’s heritage, promote local crafts and boost the neighbourhood economy. The program has no age limit; residents register online through the municipality’s portal, with weekly slots refreshed each Wednesday.

The initiative highlights Ankara’s 16 districts, combining visits to historic mosques, ancient sites, local markets and parks, while supporting small‑business owners and preserving cultural traditions.
