Ankara NATO summit dinner served no alcohol, says Turkish MP Mustafa Varank

During the NATO summit in Ankara attended by leaders of 32 member states, journalists questioned whether alcoholic beverages were offered at the official dinner. Turkish MP Mustafa Varank responded that no alcohol has been served at state invitations since 28 August 2014, and he has not encountered any foreign diplomat who complained about the policy. While the menu items were disclosed, the beverage list was not, prompting public debate about the transparency of the dinner arrangements.

Varank emphasized that guests are subject to the host country's customs, stating that the prohibition on alcohol is a standard practice for official events in Turkey.
