Selçuk Türkoğlu hospitalized during Ankara veteran protest

In Ankara, tensions escalated during a police intervention targeting er veterans and martyr families protesting for equal social and economic rights. The group, which had been holding a sit-in at Güvenpark for 43 days, was subjected to a dawn operation where security forces removed protesters and moved them to the Gazi Uyumevi.

During the confrontation at Kurtuluş Park, İYİ Party Bursa MP Selçuk Türkoğlu was hospitalized after falling ill. Party officials reported that Türkoğlu suffered a heart spasm during the incident and alleged he was subjected to disproportionate force by law enforcement. Following medical treatment at Hacettepe University Hospital, Türkoğlu was discharged in good health.

The protests have drawn mixed reactions. Veterans' representatives have criticized the government's approach, while former Defense Minister Hulusi Akar described the protesting group as a ‘very small minority’ being exploited for political purposes. The incident has intensified political debate regarding the treatment of veterans and the handling of public demonstrations in the capital.
