Ankara residents protest uncollected waste in Çankaya

Residents of the Çankaya district in Ankara have staged protests after large items such as old beds and chairs left beside public trash containers were not removed by municipal crews. Complaints were filed repeatedly over the past two weeks, with one resident noting that the waste has remained for 10‑15 days while regular trash is collected, and another stating that a report made 20‑25 days ago has still received no action. The uncollected debris is described as blocking sidewalks, creating hygiene concerns and prompting calls for the Çankaya Municipality to clear the area promptly.

The protests highlight growing frustration with the municipality’s response to repeated citizen reports and the perceived neglect of basic sanitation services in the neighbourhoods of Perçem and Sokollu Mehmet Paşa streets.
