Ankara teenager dies after falling while fleeing a dog

A 15-year-old boy, Berat Yücel, has died following an incident in the İvedik Organized Industrial Zone in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara. While Yücel was out to collect materials for his workplace, a German Shepherd ran toward him, causing him to panic.

During his attempt to flee the animal, Yücel lost his balance, fell, and struck his head on the ground. Despite being rushed to the hospital by medical teams, he succumbed to his injuries. Security footage from a nearby factory captured the moment the dog ran toward the teenager.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation. The owner of the dog, identified as Ü. Y., was detained and subsequently released under judicial control. The owner faces charges of “manslaughter” and “releasing an animal in a way that poses a danger.” The dog has been handed over to the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.
