Ankaran car crash sends vehicle into apartment living room

A car crashed into the ground-floor living room of an apartment building in Ankaran, Slovenia, on a Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred on Regentova Street when a 79-year-old driver, traveling from the direction of Hrvatini, failed to make a right turn at an intersection and instead drove straight across a grassy area and a driveway.

The vehicle breached the building's exterior facade and a concrete wall, coming to a stop inside a ground-floor living room. The driver and a 78-year-old female passenger were trapped inside the vehicle due to the force of the impact. Firefighters from the Koper Fire Brigade performed a technical rescue to free both individuals, who were subsequently transported to the hospital in Izola for medical treatment.

No residents of the building were injured during the incident, as the apartment was unoccupied at the time of the crash. Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, and the driver has been ordered to undergo a professional medical examination.
