Ankara's Farabi Underpass Transformed into Open‑Air Graffiti Gallery

The Farabi Alt Geçidi in Ankara's Çankaya district was reopened as an open‑air graffiti gallery. Ten independent street artists, including those known as Sprey Cini, Seik, Violet, Skoe, Godan, Ostik, Sote, Leck, Srobei Esop, WZR and Caco, painted the walls, ceiling and floor, turning the former concrete passage into a colorful public‑art space.

The inauguration was attended by new Party MP Aylin Yaman, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality’s Kent Estetiği (City Aesthetics) Department head Esra Duru, local muhtars and residents. Musical performances by rap artists Spade and TheVibes accompanied the visual works, highlighting the link between graffiti and hip‑hop culture. The project was inspired by a similar memorial underpass in Istanbul created in memory of the late artist Rakun, and was coordinated by the municipality’s City Aesthetics Directorate.

Organizers emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance Ankara’s urban aesthetic and provide a platform for young artists, with plans to replicate similar projects in other neighborhoods.
