Ankara's Kızılay Shopping Mall Closed for Major Renovation

The Kızılay AVM shopping centre in central Ankara was officially closed to visitors on 5 August 2026 as part of a large‑scale renovation and renewal project. All retail outlets, food‑service areas and kiosks were evacuated and the exterior brand signage was removed, signalling a deep architectural overhaul rather than a simple repair.

The construction work also required the temporary shutdown of the mall’s direct metro and Ankaray connections. Commuters were redirected to alternative exits at Kızılay Square and Güvenpark, and security measures around the site were heightened. No reopening date has been announced, and the closure affects thousands of daily shoppers and transit users in the capital.
