Çankaya Municipality expands recycling infrastructure
Çankaya Municipality is expanding its Zero Waste Management System to increase the collection of recyclable materials at the source. As part of this initiative, the municipality has deployed 150 new packaging waste recycling bins and 50 recycling containers across the district.
With this addition, the total number of recycling equipment and waste collection points in the district has reached 1,658. The program, coordinated by the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, utilizes various collection methods, including Mobile Waste Collection Centers and Class 1 Waste Collection Centers, to manage packaging, textiles, batteries, vegetable oils, and electronic waste.
In compliance with Environmental Law No. 2872, the municipality collects waste from residences, workplaces, universities, and public institutions. The collected materials are recorded and sent to licensed industrial facilities for recycling.
