Çankaya Municipality’s Urban Gardens Yield First Harvest

The Çankaya Municipality’s “Kent Bostanları” (urban garden) project in the Mutlukent and Ata neighbourhoods has entered its harvest phase. Participants who completed the Basic Vegetable Cultivation training harvested tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, melons, corn and beans that they grew from seedlings planted in June.

The program, run by the municipality, provides each trainee with a small plot to practice the full production cycle—from sowing and caring for the plants to harvesting the produce—without using chemicals. Organisers highlighted the initiative’s aim to spread agricultural culture and strengthen food‑production awareness within the city.

The harvest was announced on the municipality’s social‑media channels, praising the trainees for their hands‑on learning and community spirit.
