Anker Japan recalls 400,000 mobile batteries due to fire risk
Anker Japan is conducting a recall of approximately 401,771 mobile battery units following reports of fire incidents. The Consumer Affairs Agency issued a warning after a fire occurred in Hyogo Prefecture on September 2, where a device inside a backpack caused damage to the bag and its surroundings.
The recall targets the ‘Anker Power Bank (10000mAh, 22.5W)’ (model A1257), as well as several other models including the A1647, A1642, and A1652. The issue stems from a supplier using components that do not meet Anker’s quality standards, creating a risk of internal short-circuiting. As of late September 2026, the recall recovery rate stands at 55.3%.
Users are advised to check their serial numbers via Anker Japan’s online form and immediately stop using any affected products. The recall also includes specific models distributed through Kawasaki City’s hometown tax donation program.
