Çankırı mosque provides sign language translation for Friday sermons

At the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Mosque in Çankırı, Turkey, weekly Friday sermons are being simultaneously translated into sign language to assist hearing-impaired worshippers. This initiative allows individuals with hearing impairments to fully comprehend religious information, sermons, and prayers.

Imam Hatip Sadettin Özsoy has been performing these translations for over two years. Because this is currently the only mosque in Çankırı providing this service, many hearing-impaired citizens travel from long distances to attend. Özsoy describes the practice as a heartfelt service rather than a mere duty, noting that the accessibility helps the community participate more fully in religious life.
