Şanlıurfa Culture Days launched in Baku to promote Turkish heritage

The Şanlıurfa Culture Days event has commenced in Baku, Azerbaijan, aimed at promoting the historical, artistic, and gastronomic heritage of the Turkish city. Organized by the Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality in collaboration with the Yunus Emre Institute, the Turkey-Azerbaijan Businessmen and Industrialists Association (TÜİB), and the İçerişehir State Historical-Architectural Preserve, the festivities run from September 4 to 6.

Key activities include a photography exhibition at the Baku Photo House featuring approximately 150 works by an Austrian artist, musical performances highlighting Şanlıurfa’s UNESCO Music City status, and traditional culinary showcases. Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar emphasized the deep cultural ties between the two nations, stating that while physical distances exist, there is no distance between the hearts of the people.

The event features traditional music, folk dances, and displays of local delicacies such as çiğ köfte and mırra. Officials from both countries, including Azerbaijani MPs and Turkish diplomatic representatives, attended the opening gala to celebrate the shared heritage and strengthen bilateral cultural bonds.
