Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality launches environmental awareness project

The Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality has initiated the ‘My First Plant’ project to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living habits among younger generations. Conducted by the Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste, the program recently held training sessions at Akabe Girls Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in the Eyyübiye district.

The curriculum covers ecosystems, air, water, soil, and noise pollution, waste management, recycling, and energy conservation. Students also participated in practical demonstrations regarding seed balls, learning how to prepare and use them to support natural habitats and urban greenery.

The municipality aims to reach a total of 8,000 students through these educational and awareness activities by 2026.
