Turkish municipalities intensify food safety and hygiene inspections

Municipalities and agricultural directorates across various Turkish regions are intensifying inspections to ensure public health and food safety. In Antalya, authorities seized approximately one ton of expired or improperly labeled poultry and meat products from a cold storage facility.

In Bursa's Mudanya district, officials have increased monitoring of restaurants and cafes, collecting food samples for analysis to prevent fraud and ensure hygiene. Similarly, Ceyhan Municipality has conducted audits of bakeries focusing on hygiene, expiration dates, and price transparency. In Tepebaşı, the Blue Flag application is being used to evaluate hygiene and service standards in local businesses.

Other regional efforts include Bolu's inspections of public transportation hygiene and safety, and Kocaeli's focus on occupational health and safety coordination. In Mersin's Yenişehir district, authorities are specifically monitoring ice cream manufacturers and retailers for proper storage and expiration compliance during the summer heat.
