Şanlıurfa Municipality announces new green space and land updates
Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality is advancing two separate land development discussions. Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar announced that the 300 Evler area in the Refahiye Neighborhood will be transformed into a large green space. To ensure a high-quality design, the municipality plans to hold a national project competition. The project aims to integrate the site with Fatih Sultan Mehmet Park (Kasaptaşı) and include water features to prevent urban densification.
Separately, the municipal council addressed the status of a 400-dönüm plot belonging to the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) located opposite the Şanlıurfa City Hospital. While the municipality owns 22 dönüms of land in that area, officials stated that they lack the authority to implement parking or green space projects on the larger DSİ plot because it falls under the jurisdiction of the Privatization High Board.
