Şanlıurfa opens new fire station and search and rescue facility

The Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality has officially opened a new fire station and the Şanlıurfa Search and Rescue (ŞUAK) service building in the Karaköprü district. The opening ceremony, held during Firefighters Week, included an electric vehicle fire drill.

During the ceremony, Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar announced that the city's fire service network has expanded from 15 to 17 stations to ensure faster response times in both urban and rural areas. He emphasized the importance of strengthening physical infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing and increasingly crowded Karaköprü district.

Gülpınar also highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, noting that the ŞUAK facility is vital for proactive response rather than reactive measures following a disaster.
