ANM President defends judges in Roggero case

Giuseppe Tango, president of the National Association of Magistrates (ANM), has defended judges following the controversial sentencing in the Mario Roggero case. Speaking at the Salone della Giustizia, Tango stated that the incident did not constitute legitimate defense.

He clarified that while the actions were initially framed as protecting family, the facts indicated that the individual pursued others on a public road and fired shots after the immediate danger had passed, attempting to kill a third person. Tango criticized the political backlash against the judiciary, describing the judges as victims of a ‘media lynching’ for applying the law as it currently exists.

Tango suggested that if the public or politicians disagree with the outcome, they should seek to change the legislation through political responsibility rather than attacking the judiciary for its rulings.
