Anna Andexer targets elite biathlon status
Austrian biathlete Anna Andexer is preparing for her second full World Cup season with ambitions to join the international elite. Following two top-ten finishes at the Olympics in Antholz, the 23-year-old athlete expressed that her previous successes serve as motivation and proof of her capabilities.
Andexer noted her ability to manage high-pressure situations, a skill she developed during junior competitions. She is part of a new generation of Austrian biathletes, including Anna Gandler, tasked with following the legacy of retired athlete Lisa Hauser.
The Austrian national team has undergone recent structural changes. Markus Fischer has taken over the women's team, and Wolfgang Pichler has been appointed to oversee training planning. Andexer indicated her readiness to adapt to Pichler’s rigorous training methods.
