Tamara Korpatsch wins Hamburg Ladies Open, first German champion since 1992

Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch captured the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open title, defeating Hungary’s Anna Bondar 6‑3, 6‑3 in the final. The victory ends a 34‑year German drought at the event, making Korpatsch the first German winner since Steffi Graf in 1992 and lifting her into the world top‑50 at rank 45. She earned €32,520 and her second WTA‑tour singles crown.

Korpatsch advanced to the final after Egypt’s Mayar Sherif retired in the semifinal while trailing 6‑1, 2‑0. Bondar reached the final by surviving a three‑hour, 29‑minute semifinal against Armenia’s Elina Avanesyan. The tournament also featured a show match with former stars Martina Hingis and Andrea Petkovic on centre court before the final.

Korpatsch’s dominant performance, marked by two aces and a 72 % first‑serve success rate, secured a one‑hour‑28‑minute win, reinforcing her rising status on the WTA circuit.
