Anna Faris discusses sobriety and mental health journey

Actress Anna Faris has opened up about her journey with sobriety and mental health during an appearance on Chelsea Handler’s ‘Dear Chelsea’ podcast. Faris revealed that she decided to stop drinking alcohol after recognizing a correlation between drinking and depression. She described the decision as a way to avoid ‘self-sabotaging’ and noted that sobriety has provided her with many ‘gifts,’ including a more positive outlook on her career and her interactions with fans.

Faris also discussed her struggles with mental health, attributing a period of deep depression to perimenopause. She noted that using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) via a hormone patch has made a ‘huge difference’ in her well-being.

Reflecting on her career, the ‘Scary Movie’ star admitted she previously felt a sense of professional uncertainty and even considered retiring from acting in 2021. She shared that she had experienced a ‘distant relationship’ with her career and her environment during that time. However, her passion for acting was reignited by the opportunity to reprise her role in the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise. She is currently set to star in the upcoming comedy ‘Spa Weekend’ alongside Isla Fisher and Leslie Mann.
