Anna Konieczyńska expelled from Koalicja Obywatelska amid flood aid scandal

Anna Konieczyńska, the former vice president of the Karkonoska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego (KARR), has been expelled from the Koalicja Obywatelska (KO) party. The decision was made by the Regional Disciplinary Court of the Lower Silesia region following an investigation that confirmed charges of violating member duties and damaging the party's reputation.

The expulsion follows a scandal involving the distribution of approximately 4.5 million PLN in flood relief aid. Investigations suggest that funds intended for businesses affected by the 2024 floods were granted to three entities in Dziwiszów, including a company owned by Konieczyńska’s husband and businesses belonging to a neighbor and a local television station owner. Satellite data and fire department records indicate that the properties in question may not have been flooded.

Connieczyńska was previously suspended and has since been removed from her position at KARR. The Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) is currently inspecting documentation and procedures at the Jelenia Góra City Hall, while the Ministry of Development and Technology is verifying the aid documents. Konieczyńska has the right to appeal the party's decision to national leadership.
