Anna Nordqvist announces retirement from professional golf

Swedish professional golfer Anna Nordqvist has announced her retirement from professional golf after a 20-year career. The three-time major champion will play her final LPGA Tour tournament this week at the FM Championship near Boston.

Nordqvist, 39, leaves behind an extensive record including nine LPGA Tour victories and five Ladies European Tour wins. Her major titles include the LPGA Championship in 2009, the Evian Championship in 2017, and the Women’s Open in 2021.

Following her final tournament, Nordqvist will fulfill one last major responsibility as the captain of the European team for the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands. She stated that she decided earlier this year that this would be her final season, choosing to keep the decision private to fully enjoy her final stretch on the tour. She noted the decision was made to focus on her health and her family.
