Anna Paolini elected President of Avezzano municipal oversight commission
Anna Paolini, a councilor of the Democratic Party (PD), was elected President of the Commissione di Vigilanza, the municipal oversight body of the Comune di Avezzano in Italy.
Paolini said she will pursue rigor, transparency and close collaboration with both political and administrative structures, aiming to ensure efficient and accountable municipal management.
The election drew criticism from opposition councilor Loreto Ruscio, who noted that the presidency traditionally belongs to a minority representative to guarantee independent oversight. He argued that the PD broke a prior opposition agreement and secured the position with majority votes, raising questions about the commission’s autonomy. Ruscio also recalled that the opposition had previously backed Alessio Cesareo, who had received far more voter preferences than Paolini.
