Anna University faces delay in appointing Controller of Examinations
Anna University has yet to appoint a full-time Controller of Examinations, despite a selection process that concluded a year ago. A candidate was shortlisted following interviews with seven applicants, but the position remains unfilled, leaving the department under an officer in charge for the past five years.
The delay has raised concerns among university professors, especially as the institution also lacks a Vice-Chancellor. The Controller of Examinations is a critical role, ranking third in the university's administrative hierarchy after the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar.
The department manages essential academic functions, including question paper preparation, semester examinations, and answer script evaluation. Its responsibilities extend across four university campus colleges, 16 constituent colleges, and more than 400 affiliated private engineering colleges.
