Nikos Karvelas and Anna Vissi dispute intensifies

The long-standing professional and personal relationship between singer Anna Vissi and composer Nikos Karvelas has faced a public rupture. Artist Babis Stokas has criticized Vissi’s handling of the situation, describing her behavior as ‘arrogant’ and stating that Karvelas is the ‘wronged’ party in the dispute. Stokas noted that the two have shared a fifty-year relationship, including a family, making the public nature of the conflict ‘inelegant.’

In a significant shift in professional operations, Karvelas has reclaimed the authority to grant licenses for the live performance of his musical works from the collective management organization ‘Autodicheirisi,’ effective September 30, 2026. Following this change, several artists, including Giorgos Tsalikis, Giannis Ploutarchos, and Michalis Rakintzis, have reportedly sought and received his personal consent to perform his songs in live venues.

Reports also indicate that Karvelas has issued legal notices to Vissi regarding an unreleased album.
