Annalena Baerbock to join Columbia University as professor

Annalena Baerbock, the outgoing President of the UN General Assembly, is set to join Columbia University in New York this autumn. According to reports from the Deutsche Presse-Agentur and Table Media, she will take on a multi-year, full-time role as a Professor of Professional Practice in Global Leadership.

Baerbock will also serve as the Co-Director of the Master of Public Administration in Global Leadership program at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). This position is described as a practice-oriented professorship rather than a traditional research role, specifically designed for leaders with at least ten years of professional experience.

Her tenure at the UN General Assembly, which officially concludes on September 8, was marked by efforts to strengthen multilateralism, advocate for women's rights, and address climate change. Her successor at the UN will be Khalilur Rahman from Bangladesh. Following her UN term, Baerbock is expected to remain in New York rather than returning to Germany immediately.
