Annapurna Devi criticizes Congress over Jharkhand recruitment protests

Union Minister Annapurna Devi has accused the Congress party and leader Rahul Gandhi of having a “duplicitous character” and “double standards” regarding ongoing protests in Jharkhand. Devi criticized the opposition for remaining silent on the agitations of job aspirants in the JMM-governed state, noting that they typically voice concerns in other regions but ignore grievances in states where their allies hold power.

The protests were triggered by the announcement of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination results on July 5, with aspirants alleging irregularities in the recruitment process. Students have been conducting indefinite sit-ins and round-the-clock protests to demand transparency and accountability.

In response to the situation, Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) MLA Jairam Mahto held a one-day fast in Ranchi to support the students. Mahto has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, alleging that high-level figures are involved in the trade of public sector positions.
