Anne D’Alleva inaugurated as Binghamton University president

Binghamton University has formally inaugurated Anne D’Alleva as its eighth president. The ceremony, held at the Anderson Center Osterhout Theater, coincided with celebrations for the institution’s 80th anniversary.

D’Alleva, who assumed her duties in November 2025 following the retirement of Harvey Stenger, outlined her vision for the university’s future. Her priorities include expanding research and creative initiatives, supporting faculty, deepening alumni involvement, and strengthening community partnerships. She has already led the development of ‘Forward Together: The Vision for Binghamton University’, a five-year strategic plan launched in August 2026.

The event included remarks from State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr., SUNY Board Chair Merryl Tisch, and various elected officials. Before joining Binghamton, D’Alleva served as the first female provost at the University of Connecticut.
