Anne Dujić trial: Police officer alleges superior attempted to block criminal report
During the trial of Anne Dujić at the Karlovac Municipal Court, a police officer testified that Joško Periša, the Chief of the Šibenik Traffic Police, attempted to dissuade her from filing a criminal report against Dujić.
Dujić, the daughter of former Croatian Forests administration president Nediljko Dujić, faces charges of coercion and threats following an incident during a July 2024 wildfire near Skradin. The officer testified that Periša suggested there was ‘nothing to report’ and implied that failing to act immediately could cause the officer professional issues.
The testimony has sparked significant backlash. The Police Union has called for the immediate dismissal of Police Chief Nikola Milina, citing systemic issues and a lack of protection for officers. In response, the Ministry of the Interior stated that officers performing their duties lawfully have the ministry's full support and noted that the matter is currently under judicial review.
