Anne Hathaway honored as Disney Legend at D23 Expo

Anne Hathaway was recently honored as a Disney Legend at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. During the event, she addressed the development of 'The Princess Diaries 3' and the confirmed absence of co-star Julie Andrews.

Andrews, 90, has decided not to reprise her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, stating that the story should continue to focus on Mia Thermopolis. Hathaway expressed respect for Andrews' decision, noting that while the production team 'did push really hard' to convince her to return, they understand her desire to focus on other work such as writing and podcasting.

Hathaway, who will return as both star and producer, revealed that the sequel is moving in the right direction following a significant script rewrite. The project is set to be directed by Adele Lim. Additionally, Hathaway shared personal updates, including her pregnancy, noting that she and her husband already know the gender of their third child but are keeping it private.
