Anne Hathaway cancels Hot Ones appearance due to pregnancy

Actress Anne Hathaway has revealed that she had to cancel a planned appearance on the YouTube series ‘Hot Ones’ due to medical advice regarding her pregnancy. Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, explained during an appearance on the ‘Talk of the Townsends’ podcast that her doctor warned the extreme spicy food challenge could potentially trigger early labor.

The decision to skip the show was particularly notable because Hathaway’s character in her upcoming film, ‘Verity’, is scripted to appear on the show. During the filming of the movie, Hathaway consumed the first three spicy wings for real before switching to dummy wings for the remainder of the scene. She had originally intended to complete the full ten-wing gauntlet in real life as part of her promotional tour to establish her character as a cultural icon, but her pregnancy necessitated a change in plans.

Hathaway noted that she has not yet completed the challenge and suggested she might attempt it next year. The actress has had a highly productive year, with ‘Verity’ marking her fifth film release of 2026.
