Anne Hathaway confirms Julie Andrews will not return for The Princess Diaries 3

Anne Hathaway has revealed that production efforts were made to convince Julie Andrews to reprise her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the upcoming film, ‘The Princess Diaries 3’. Despite these efforts, the 90-year-old actress has declined to participate in the third installment of the franchise.

Andrews indicated that her current professional focus has shifted toward writing books, recording podcasts, and voiceover work rather than major feature films. She noted that the story belongs to the character of Princess Mia and expressed that she feels it is time to let the narrative continue without her.

Hathaway expressed deep respect for Andrews’ contributions to the entertainment industry, stating that the production team remains open to her involvement in any capacity, such as a narration role, should she change her mind. Hathaway also shared her hope that the new film will serve as a meaningful experience for fans who grew up with the original movies.
