Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi headline Delhi launch of epic film 'Ramayana

A high‑budget two‑part epic titled **Ramayana** was unveiled at a gala event in New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam on 18‑19 July 2026. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and a supporting cast that includes Arun Govil as King Dasharath. The trailer was screened for invited guests and later leaked online, sparking widespread social‑media buzz.

During the launch, Tiwari explained his casting choices, saying “the eyes of Ranbir and Sai showed me Shri Ram and Sita Mata” and praised their sincerity. Ranbir apologized for wearing sunglasses due to conjunctivitis, while Sai Pallavi described feeling “blessed” and said she meditated to let “Sita Amma act through me.” Yash made a surprise stage entry, thanked the producer, and noted that the project gave him the chance to learn Hindi. The event also featured surprise appearances by Yash and Sunny Deol, a live performance by composer Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma, and announcements that the film’s music will be composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with visual effects by DNEG. The first installment is slated for a worldwide Diwali 2026 release, followed by the sequel in Diwali 2027.
