ANOCA Zone V Youth Games begin at Kenyatta University

The 2026 Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone V Youth Games have commenced at Kenyatta University. The event serves as a developmental precursor to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.

In the opening competitions, Kenyan teams saw success in 3x3 basketball. The Kenya 2 girls' team secured victories against Kenya 1 and South Sudan, while the Kenya 1 boys' team recorded wins against South Sudan and Kenya 2. In beach volleyball, Kenya’s second team defeated South Sudan 2-1 in a three-set match.

Uganda's athletes also began their campaigns in 3x3 basketball and beach volleyball. The women’s 3x3 basketball competition follows a round-robin format involving teams from Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, with champions determined by a cumulative points system across multiple stages.
