Another Way Film Festival concludes with Mexican documentary and feature film

The Another Way Film Festival concluded with the screening of two significant Mexican cinematic works. The festival closed with the documentary ‘Hijas del bosque’, which follows two indigenous mycologists in the forests of Mexico. The film explores the intersection of ancestral knowledge and contemporary science through the study of fungi, emphasizing the interdependence between humans and the natural environment.

Additionally, the festival featured ‘Los amantes se despiden con la mirada (2025)’, the latest feature film by Oaxacan director Rigoberto Perezcano. Shot in black and white, the film tells a tragic story set in the Oaxaca Valley involving a 16-year-old girl forced into marriage due to regional customs. Perezcano aimed to blend the aesthetic and rhythm of modern cinema with the essence of Mexican film from the 1940s and 1950s.
