Another Wil targeted for Caulfield confidence boost

Trainer Ciaron Maher has opted to enter the gelding Another Wil in the Evergreen Turf Handicap at Caulfield this Saturday, rather than competing in the higher-stakes Group 1 Memsie Stakes. The decision aims to provide a confidence boost for the horse, who has not secured a victory in over 18 months since winning the Group 1 C F Orr Stakes at the same venue.

Maher noted that the 1400-metre benchmark 100 race offers a favorable handicap, with Another Wil set to carry 60 kilos. The inclusion of apprentice Jabez Johnstone, who provides a 2kg claim, was also a key factor in the selection. Following this outing, the team intends to return the horse to Group 1 level competition.
