Anpas Sicilia holds conference on civil protection in Valderice

Anpas Sicilia organized a conference in Valderice titled ‘The time we choose to give. Stories, experiences and the future of Civil Protection’ to discuss the future of volunteering and disaster prevention. The event served as a precursor to the regional assembly for electing new leadership.

Key discussions focused on the importance of involving younger generations in civil protection and utilizing digital tools for better territorial knowledge and prevention. Institutional representatives, including Valderice Mayor Francesco Stabile, regional deputy Dario Safina, and Salvo Cocina from the Regional Civil Protection Department, participated in the dialogue.

The event featured emotional testimonies from volunteers, most notably Giuseppe Aceto. A survivor of the Belice earthquake, Aceto shared how his experience during the rescue efforts inspired him to found a public assistance organization that has served the Trapani area for thirty years.
