ANPI Giulianova Demands Suspension of Italian Air Force Mission in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain
The ANPI local section in Giulianova, named Riccardo Cerulli, issued a public statement backing the recent remarks of national ANPI president Gianfranco Pagliarulo. Both warn that a contingent of the Italian Air Force is operating in support of the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain, a deployment that the association says was carried out without parliamentary knowledge.
The Giulianova ANPI calls for an immediate parliamentary hearing to clarify the size, objectives and role of Italian personnel in the region. It urges the government to suspend all activities and withdraw the contingent, citing Article 11 of the Italian Constitution, which rejects war as a means of resolving international disputes, and stressing the risk that Italy could be drawn into the escalating Middle‑East conflict.
The association stresses the need for transparent democratic oversight and the protection of national security, demanding that any foreign military involvement be subject to public debate and parliamentary control.
