ANPI Lecco to hold commemoration of Italian Resistance

The provincial branch of ANPI in Lecco has announced a commemorative event to honor the Italian Resistance, scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Largo Montenero.

The event marks the historical significance of September 8, 1943, a date that saw early citizen mobilization in Lecco near the Sirtori barracks, which eventually evolved into organized resistance against Nazi-Fascist occupation. The city of Lecco holds a Silver Medal for Military Valor in recognition of its partisan activities.

Taking place in front of memorial plaques dedicated to those who fought for peace and the Italian Constitution, the gathering aims to serve as a moment of active memory. ANPI representatives stated the intention is to use public spaces for free and constructive debate while reflecting on the principles of the Constitution and condemning ongoing global conflicts.
