Anápolis, Brazil expands green spaces and upgrades sports complex

The municipality of Anápolis has launched two major public‑works initiatives. On 10 July, the city began the next phase of its “Anápolis Mais Verde” program, planting 500 native trees on Morro da Capuava and planning further plantings on avenues, parks and public squares to improve urban cooling, air quality and flood mitigation. Mayor Márcio Corrêa emphasized the project’s role in combating climate‑related risks and preserving Cerrado biodiversity.

In a separate effort, the city started a six‑month revitalisation of the Munir Calixto sports area on 9 July, converting the former dirt field into a grass‑covered stadium with locker rooms, courts, seating and other facilities. The upgraded Estação de Esporte Industrial Munir Calixto is intended to provide modern recreational infrastructure for residents, workers and visitors to the Daia industrial district.
