The internal PL crisis was triggered by Corrêa’s decision to support Governor Daniel Vilela (MDB) for the 2026 elections.

Simultaneously, Corrêa has intensified his political rhetoric against Senator Wilder Morais (PL), a candidate for the state governorship. In response to personal attacks from Morais, Corrêa criticized the senator’s political consistency, citing past associations and recent voting absences regarding Supreme Court appointments. Corrêa argued that Morais should focus on concrete proposals for the state rather than personal attacks.
