Anápolis receives over R$1.7 bn in state investment, boosting infrastructure and economic role

Anápolis, the third‑largest city in Goiás, marked its 119th anniversary on 31 July while the state government announced more than R$1.7 billion in investments over the past seven‑and‑a‑half years. The funding has funded a new seven‑kilometre ring road for the District Agroindustrial of Anápolis (Daia), a R$32.6 million project that improves access to industrial zones and neighbourhoods. Additional works include a R$38 million airport‑cargo drainage and environmental restoration, R$24.6 million repairs to the GO‑330 highway, and upgrades to GO‑437, GO‑222 and the Anápolis aerodrome. New bridges over the Ribeirão João Leite and the Rio das Antas, each 30 m long, were built with investments of R$4.7 million and R$2.3 million respectively. The Goiás em Movimento programme also allocated over R$10 million for urban road and drainage repairs. These projects aim to cement Anápolis’s position as a strategic industrial, logistics and services hub in the Central‑West region.

Historically, the city has played a notable role since the 1940s, hosting the founding of Rádio Carajá, the Rotary Club, and the Banco Comercial do Estado de Goiás. President Juscelino Kubitschek visited Anápolis in 1956 to sign the order authorising the creation of Novacap, the company that would build Brasília. The city’s growth continued with the establishment of SENAI, SENAC, and various cultural institutions, laying the groundwork for its modern economic importance.
