Anápolis woman injured in house fire caused by electrical accident

A 64-year-old woman was injured after an electrical accident triggered a house fire in the Residencial Flor do Cerrado II Etapa, in Anápolis, Goiás. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the woman was attempting to repair an air conditioning unit using an iron bar.

The bar made contact with high-voltage power lines, causing an electrical discharge and a short circuit that ignited flames on the upper floor of the residence. To escape the fire, the woman jumped from the balcony of the two-story house, resulting in burns and trauma from the fall.

Emergency responders from the Military Fire Brigade and SAMU provided initial assistance. Bystanders helped remove the woman from the burning area before firefighters arrived. While she remained conscious and responsive, she suffered second-degree burns to her legs and abdomen. Due to the nature of the electrical shock, internal damage could not be immediately assessed. She was initially treated in Anápolis before being transferred by helicopter to the Hospital Estadual de Urgências Governador Otávio Lage de Siqueira (HUGOL) in Goiânia for specialized care.
