Ansar Ahmad emphasizes role of cyber media in Riau Islands

Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad emphasized the strategic role of cyber media in supporting regional development and maintaining a healthy information environment. Speaking at the 5th anniversary appreciation night of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI) in Tanjungpinang, Ahmad described the press as a strategic partner to the government.

He stated that he and his administration are not anti-criticism, noting that critiques delivered through news media can positively impact development and serve as a basis for improving government performance. Ahmad highlighted that journalists assist in socializing and supervising government activities, which is essential in a democracy.

However, the Governor also addressed the challenges of the digital era, specifically the need for information verification. He urged media organizations to ensure accuracy and balance to prevent the spread of inaccurate information that can harm individuals or institutions.
