Ansbach station named Station of the Year 2026

The non-profit transport alliance ‘Allianz pro Schiene’ has named the Ansbach station in Bavaria, Germany, as the ‘Station of the Year 2026’. This marks another win for the state of Bavaria, which has received the title in the past.

The jury praised the station for its comprehensive design concept that extends beyond mere functionality. Following renovations, the station features a light-filled hall, wooden benches instead of traditional metal ones, and greenery at platform seating areas to create a more pleasant atmosphere.

Additional factors contributing to the award include improved accessibility and connectivity. The station offers easy access via bus, car, and bicycle, featuring a nearby bus station and secure, covered bicycle parking with lockable boxes to prevent theft.
